Our oldest tangible connection with St.Patrick is St.Patrick`s well (Tobar Ph`adraig) in Magherakeel.
According to tradition,St.Patrick stopped here to rest himself and quench his thirst on his way from Lough Derg and blessed the well.
Since then it has been a place of pilgrimage.
Every 17th March the local community hold a band procession to the well where the Rosary and Prayers are recited to mark this occasion.
